Legal Wills and Estates
Everyone must plan their legal wills and estates.
From simple to very complex wills, it is essential to document who will
assume control of your estate, receive your material possessions, and who
will act as the guardian for your infant children.
These are not matters to be taken lightly.
An invalidly drawn legal will may be left open to challenge or worse still
may have no effect at law and create serious personal and taxation consequences to your dependants.
If you do not have a validly drafted will, your estate will then be divided according to a statutory formula prescribed by law.
The formula has no regard to your preferred distribution or any particular
gift or heirloom that you may wish somebody to have.
It is also usually more expensive to apply for Letters of Administration if
you die intestate (when you don't have a will), than a relatively simple application for Probate.
A properly drawn legal will avoids other possible unintended consequences
including a variety of taxation problems.
At P&B Law we advise and assist in the preparation of your legal
will. We also assist in applications for grant of Probate and other
testamentary matters.
